Hey everyone!
Thought I’d do something different and share an unused illustration and the story behind why I drew it.
Maybe you’ve figured this out, but I love all things mythology, legend, and fairy tale. There is something remarkable about how most stories around the world share the same elements. The same goes for monsters. You find clones in different regions.
Several years ago, when I was playing with a podcast idea (sigh, I know, don’t judge me) I thought about doing something with monsters. I’d also just gotten super into Japanese and Korean demons at the time:

Yet while researching some Japanese ghost stories I gave myself actual nightmares and couldn’t sleep without the light on for a month. I was afraid of a shadow in the corner of my room that resembled a ferocious long-necked Rokurkubi. Then there was the slit-mouthed woman who I knew would appear in my mirror if I suddenly illuminated the bathroom. Better to always have the lights on.
Obviously I pulled away from the scarier aspects of folklore for a bit, but since I’ve been in a better headspace, I’m less likely to let my imagination run wild
Though I do have my flashlight ready to go at all times.

Here is another Dating Dead Philosophers comic you may enjoy.
Thanks for reading! Tomorrow you will get a behind-the-scenes look at some work and I will go back to a regular(wish) schedule.

Though the podcast market is slightly saturated at this time with everyone and granny jumping on that wagon, should you have a collection of short stories or even an indie book itching to get out, you could gather up as many SEO tricks and other notification ammo as possible and be the first author on the block of online Indie writers to hold a Virtual Book Signing, (kind of like an online Youtube live session) where every time someone orders a book from your indie sales outlet, or your own store if available, you simply Whack several programmed keys to individuals in the stack of online participants that want to order*. This scrapes their online persona name and electronically prints your customized signature + some relevant fluff and the indie book is ordered in the stack to be printed and shipped.
Youtube might object, if they do, try a webinar.
*Obviously buyers/orders do have to submit a mailing address.
Sound complicated, sure is, but hey what else have we go to do nowadays?
VBS=Virtual Book Signing. No need to travel since how long before most book stores disappear?
