I Steal Socks And This King Wants Love, Not Dead Heirs
Updates, funny stories, and more from the week
Hi everyone!
Guess who’s writing outside right now.
That’s right, the scaffolding is down!!!!!

There are still tons of drills ringing out from all over the building, but as long as I wear headphones I can experience the pleasure of writing outdoors again. Which is perfect for those days when the house feels stuffy. Or when I want to read my weird stories out loud and annoy the neighbors.
Let me tell you, the moment I heard the loud bangs from outside my window and saw the explosion of extra sunlight I. Was. Ready. I worked out there for a couple of hours, wearing socks stolen from my partner’s drawer because they are adorable. Also my own were stolen by dryer gremlins. Or I lost them. Doesn’t matter. Love means sharing socks.

Extra light also means we get to welcome green things into our home. After figuring out which way the building faced, I started to hunt for plants that might bring the house a bit of joy. And improve the air quality.
There’s only one problem. I’m a plant killer.

This means whichever plant I’m researching needs to have care instructions equivalent to those I used to get as a babysitter from first-time moms.
Besides oxygen, I want plants that will boost my mood. I’m aware they aren’t a full on cure, but there are days where I feel glum after being surrounded by blank white walls for hours. But it’s still a too chilly to do all my writing outside. Soon…

What I’m up to:
What I’m reading: Roses and Rot by Kat Howard

A beautifully written story that captures its inspiration, a bit of fairy lore, and weaves it with the world of artist retreats. I’m really loving it and can’t wait to read more by this author.
What I’m learning to cook: Spicy things

I can’t handle heat, but I want to. So I’ve been slowly incorporating more hot sauces and peppers into my food.
What I’m listening to: Bonnets at Dawn

Bonnets at Dawn is a great podcast for book lovers. I just wish they released an episode every week.
Other writers I like:
Cara Michelle Smith has always been a writer I like to read, whether her work is in Slackjaw, Belladonnas, or any of the other outlets she frequents. This is her newest post-Where Your Recycling Really Goes
Danielle Kraese- wrote this amazing bit of humor and as you can tell I’m a sucker for Airbnb themed anything. Check it out-Instructions For Your Upcoming Stay At My Illegal Airbnb
Thanks for reading!
