How did I turn the Tudors into ice cream?
Don't lose your head with excitement at this behind the scenes look!
Hi everyone!
This piece is one of my recent favorites. I really enjoyed creating ice cream for Jane Austen’s characters and so I began to brainstorm other delicious themes.
To be fair if I hadn’t had such a good response with the first Jane Austen post I would not have done this version so soon. But since I had an inkling of what format worked, I went ahead and picked a topic that I knew well and that I believed a good deal of readers would at least have some familiarity with so the jokes would land. I started to design some cartons and generate more ideas.
Then I got to work designing the Anne Boleyn ice cream.
As you can see there was a moment when I realized I was not going to hand-letter the ice cream. Nor did I end up creating a mockup for each queen. Ultimately this came down to timing and having to complete other obligations.
I found a free ice cream carton to mockup and added the extra element to the lid. I regret not making Anne’s pendant more visible in the final version.
Eventually I ended up with a fun main image plus all the ice cream flavors I’d brainstormed. While not exactly what I wanted, the content remained strong and that is the most important ingredient for a post like this.
Thank you for reading!
